After just 8 days in theaters, Inside Out 2 is chasing Dune 2 into the desert. Box Office Mojo reports that the Pixar sequel has earned $285 million domestically and $512 million worldwide. That’s a lot of little emotions cheering in Bob Iger’s head, making it rain with whatever currency emotions use in the Pixar world. As of Friday, the movie outearned Dune as the year’s highest-grossing movie (Dune: Part Two earned $282 million), and it’s not even Sunday yet. It’s a lot to handle, especially as the Fourth of July quickly approaches, and Riley’s awkward years will probably skyrocket its earnings at the box office. But before we look into the future, let’s take a moment to yearn for the past, or in this case, another movie that stars an Inside Out emotion that embodies revenge. June Squibb, who plays Nostalgia, also stars in Thelma, which is out this weekend as well and reminds us that emotions are important at every age, especially the angrier ones (and it’s probably a good palette cleanser after crying over Anxiety).
