Chicago Park District says Buckingham Fountain will close due to overnight vandalism

Chicago Park District officials announced the closure of the Buckingham Fountain due to vandalism overnight that the city agency will repair.

Chicago police said the vandalism happened in the overnight hours in the 300 block of South Columbus Drive. Effective immediately, the Buckingham Fountain was closed until further notice for maintenance to repair the fountain.

No one was in custody for the vandalism and detectives are investigating.
