Laura Peterson will be sleeping in a little later. Variety reports that Julianna Margulies will not return to the fourth season of The Morning Show and that the decision not to bring back her character was made before she made her racist and anti-LBGTQ+ remarks on a podcast last December when discussing the violence in the Gaza Strip. She was reportedly offered a one-episode role, which she declined. Vulture has reached out to her team for comment. Margulies joined the series in season two and played Laura Peterson, a lesbian journalist at UBA 365 who had a relationship with Bradley Jackson (played by Reese Witherspoon). Their relationship ended early in season 3 but officially done-zo when Jackson hid her brother’s involvement in the Jan. 6 riots— because what the hell, Bradley?
Last week, it was announced that Marion Cotillard will join the show as Celine Dumont, a “savvy operator from a storied European family.” Maybe Celine will fill the sapphic love interest-sized hole in the show left by Laura— what if she’s the person who can turn the tables on Bradley and make her life messy?
