Finally, Blackpink’s Jennie Walks the Runway

Summertime means daydreaming about an Italian vacation while watching all my favorite celebrities float around the Mediterranean on yachts (we’re looking at you, Dua Lipa). But ten days before the official start of summer, K-pop icon Jennie Kim already gave us that moment. On Monday, perched atop a jetting rock on the island of Capri, she went from being a rumored guest at Jacquemus’ “La Casa” 2024 Cruise show to actually … walking. Yes, you read that right. Jennie closed the whole thing in a sleek black gown for her runway debut.

While founder and creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus is known for drawing a celeb-heavy crowd, he began to tease that something special was coming with Jennie days ago. The show celebrated the brand’s 15th anniversary at the Casa Malaparte with a beautiful crystal-blue ocean as the backdrop for the new designs. Twenty-four hours before the show, Jacquemus shared an Instagram dump of the island and runway with multiple photos and videos of Jennie. When the show began and fans noticed Jennie wasn’t sitting in the front row, people wondered if she would walk. And boy did she walk. She looked natural, walking in front of celebrities like Dua Lipa, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Aron Piper, and Manu Rios.

After closing out the show in her backless midi, bold blue purse, and zebra-print mules, she had a sweet moment (a hug) with Jacquemus as he descended the steps and took his final bow. In the past day, we’ve gotten another viral moment from a cruise show and some amazing summer looks from the brand and secured (hopefully) many more modeling gigs for Jennie. If we’re extra lucky, maybe another collaboration between her and the designer will come our way. Our fingers are crossed.

To tide us over in the meantime, you can preorder Jennie’s runway dress and purse from the brand’s site. And below, the other celebs who attended the show in Capri.
