At a Glance: June 4

NEW SAFETY NET HOSPITAL: A new hospital was approved in Chautauqua County, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced yesterday. The state has awarded $74 million of its budget towards the project, which will be constructed by Kaleida Health and Brooks-TLC Health Systems. The hospital will include 12 bays, 15 medical/surgical beds, an observation unit, two procedure rooms, a pharmacy and a helipad.

RENEWED CONTRACT: The Administration for Children’s Services has renewed its contract with Gotham Per Diem, a staffing agency based in the Financial District. The $6.3 million contract will be used to find staff for the Nicholas Scoppetta Children’s Center, a facility that houses children and youth awaiting foster care replacements, according to a notice filed in the The City Record.

BLOOD EMERGENCY: The New York Blood Center has declared a blood emergency, noting that there has been a significant drop in donations around the Memorial Day weekend, leading to a 2,100 unit shortage to meet hospital demand in the area. To make an appointment, donors can call 1-800-933-2566 or visit nybc.org.
