An ABBA reunion without a hologram? Oo, la, la. The band briefly reunited on May 31 for a prestigious knighthood ceremony in Sweden to celebrate their accomplishments in music by King Carl XVI Gustaf. Agnetha Faltskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad received the Royal Order of Vasa, given the title of Commanders of the First Class, a title awarded for the first time in 50 years. The band most recently got together to record Voyage in 2021, their first album in 40 years, but haven’t performed together since 1982. Alongside them at the ceremony, two physicists who won the 2023 Nobel Prize were also awarded with knighthood. Because winning a Nobel Prize is basically the same accomplishment as singing “Angel Eyes” and inspiring the Mamma Mia movies.
