Barry Keoghan Still Isn’t Sick of ‘Espresso’

How many times do you think Barry Keoghan has heard “Espresso”? Well, first think about all the times that you yourself have heard Sabrina Carpenter’s delightfully nonsensical earworm, both by choice and because Spotify decided you needed to hear it. Now imagine that you’re Keoghan, and in addition to being a regular person in an “Espresso”-loving world, you date Carpenter and frequently attend her live shows. He has to have heard this song … hundreds of times? And it still Mountain Dews it for him!

Over the weekend, Carpenter performed at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Luton, England. Ever the supportive boyfriend, Keoghan watched her perform from the side of the stage and bopped along as Carpenter performed “Espresso” to a rapturous crowd.

He looks like he’s having fun! How he hasn’t grown tired of this song yet is a testament both to how fun the track is and how good of a boyfriend he is. Keoghan has been the No. 1 “Espresso” stan since day one. When the song first dropped, he dutifully commented on Carpenter’s Instagram post, writing, “Tuuuuunnnne M’darlin !!” followed by a string of emojis. One time, he was drinking an actual espresso and posted a photo of it to his story alongside the blonde-princess emoji. On the Met Gala carpet, he told a reporter that the song was “amazing.” He might as well be on the payroll at this point (he’s working late, ’cause he’s her boyfriend).

In addition to being an “Espresso” booster, Keoghan also loves going to a Sabrina Carpenter show. Before this weekend’s show, he’d flown out to Singapore to watch her perform at the Eras Tour and gone to Coachella to see her perform “Espresso” for the first time. I imagine he’ll also be there when she accepts a special Nobel Prize for creating a scientifically perfect song of summer.
