In the days since the release of a 2016 video that shows Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, legions of women have expressed their compassion online for Ventura, who has been forced to relive her decade-old abuse in public. Now, the mother of Combs’s son Justin has added her voice to that choir. On Tuesday, Misa Hylton shared a post to Instagram in which she threw her support behind Ventura and suggested her ex get help, writing, “Their father needs help, and I am praying that he truly does the personal work and receives it.”
“I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her. I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma,” Hylton captioned the post. “These young people were raised by women that want the best for them — we put God and education first and have always been united in our mutual effort to support their dreams. Two of the youngest do not have their mother here and it has been our duty to support them.”

According to Us Weekly, Hylton and Combs dated in the ’90s and later welcomed their son, Justin, in 1993. While Hylton has not defined her “own trauma,” her Instagram post comes two days after Combs issued a public apology for the disturbing behavior showcased in the surveillance video first obtained by CNN. Previously, the 54-year-old had denied all allegations against him, including those leveled by Ventura in a since-settled lawsuit from last year. Only now that video evidence of Ventura’s claims has been made public has Combs shown remorse, saying Sunday that he takes “full responsibility for my actions in that video.”
