Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Brule Laker has added a photo to the pool:

The parish of the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola was established in 1851 as St. Lawrence O’Toole’s Church. In 1898, permission to change the patron saint of the parish from St. Lawrence O’Toole to St. Ignatius of Loyola was granted by Rome. The church’s present foundation at 980 Park Ave. was built from 1884 to1886; the church, designed by architect J. William Schickel of Schickel & Ditmars, was completed in 1900. Funerals for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Lena Horne, Oscar de la Renta and Philip Seymour Hoffman were conducted here.
