It’s true, she really does believe in awards after love. Cher has altered her stance on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, telling Entertainment Weekly that she will, in fact, attend her impending induction ceremony and accept the honor. “I’m going to have some words to say,” she teased. “I’m going to accept it as me.” The diva also thanked record executive David Geffen, “my friend and most wonderful person ever,” and current Rock Hall chairman John Sykes, presumably because they advocated for her induction and didn’t liken female artists to being inarticulate. Cher had never been in contention for the Rock Hall until the 2024 nominee shortlist, despite being eligible since 1991 and a slate of credentials to back her up. She brought up this slight on The Kelly Clarkson Show last year, insisting that she “wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars” and encouraging the organization to “just go you-know-what themselves.” Well then, let’s just shoop-shoop right along.
