Team USA Highlights: Day 1
FIRST U.S. MEDAL
A total of 13 gold medal events took place on Sunday. Men’s Street skateboarding was postponed to Monday due to rain, making it a total of 14 expected events.
Team USA’s Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon, lifelong friends since they were 8 years old, secured a silver medal in the women’s synchronized 3m springboard final. It marked the start of the medal hunt for Team USA in the 2024 Games.

USA-AUSTRALIA CONTINUE RIVALRY IN THE POOL
American swimmers, Jack Alexy, Hunter Armstrong, Caeleb Dressel, and Chris Guiliano, clinched the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay for Team USA’s first gold in the Paris Olympics. They finished in 3:09.28, continuing their Olympic title streak in the event.
The women’s 4x100m freestyle relay saw Australia taking gold, setting an Olympic record time of 3:28.92. Team USA took home silver, with an American record time of 3:30.20.
KATIE LEDECKY, GRETCHEN WALSH SHINE
Katie Ledecky, an elite U.S. swimmer, claimed her 11th Olympic medal with a bronze in the 400m freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Australia’s Ariarne Titmus secured gold with a time of 3:57.49.
Meanwhile, Gretchen Walsh broke the Olympic record in the women’s 100m butterfly semifinals, finishing with a time of 55.38 seconds. The final for the 100m butterfly is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 2:40 p.m. ET.
