Few mother-daughter duos like a coordinated look more than Kim Kardashian and North West, who have been known to match nose jewelry and Met Gala pearls (even though the tween is too young to be allowed in). And now, after North wore her own custom-designed outfit to perform in The Lion King, Kim appears to have taken some of her furry accessories for a spin.
On Tuesday, Kim posted images of herself modeling voluminous yellow shearling pieces from the California-based apparel brand ERL. The look is a lot like the bespoke ERL costume North wore onstage at the Hollywood Bowl a week earlier when she appeared as Simba in a one-off production of The Lion King.The costume, a sweatshirt-and-shorts getup topped with a fuzzy hat and slippers, was notably more laid-back than the rest of the production’s looks, and on the day of the performance, Kim posted pics of an ERL photo shoot featuring North — and more yellow shearling pieces — accompanied by a lion emoji.

Of course, now that Kim is also managing to pull off an egg-yolk-yellow trapper hat, not everyone is happy. Some commenters have accused her of stealing her 10-year-old daughter’s thunder and making North’s big acting debut about herself — even though that debut was not exactly lauded and a lot of people criticized the production for casting North instead of a child with more musical-theater experience. Personally, I’m just happy to see Kim in something that is not a lung-strangling corset, even if the chaps look like Big Bird’s carcass. Maybe she was just jealous of how comfortable North looked?
