The Rock had better hold onto his gold chain, because our next great film star is upon us. Or at least, that’s what Travis Kelce would like us to believe. After filming alongside Niecy Nash-Betts for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series Grotesquerie, the First Gentleman of the Eras Tour is ready to transition from the silver screen to what Kelce considers Hollywood’s big leagues: an Adam Sandler film.
On Wednesday’s episode of the New Heights podcast, which Travis shares with his brother Jason Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs player shot down a rumor that he had been cast in the Happy Gilmore sequel. “Other than the movie is getting made, and I’m looking for movie deals, that’s about all they got [right],” he said of the “conspiracy” theories circulating online. But if there’s even an off chance of him landing a role in the film, the 34-year-old said he’d do just about “anything” to act in an Adam Sandler movie. He’d even “be a fucking extra.” How generous. Though now that I think about it, considering Trav has stated in a handful of ways that he simply wants to be a very famous man, I’m sure he’d maneuver some scene-stealing.
“Count me in! Obviously, been a huge fan of the Sandman,” he continued.
If anything, I appreciate Kelce’s transparency about his never ending quest for fame. And if one day he winds up at the Academy Awards with a trophy in his hand, I will profusely apologize for ever having doubted him. In the meantime, let us continue to cast side eye on this man’s acting career. Wishing him great luck with this endeavor.
