Brittany Cartwright Asks Fans to Imagine Her Marriage ‘Behind Closed Doors’

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s separation, which the former Vanderpump Rules couple announced in February, didn’t look pretty to begin with. At the time, Cartwright kept the reasons behind the split close to her chest, while alluding she had to move out of the home she and Taylor shared for the sake of her “mental health.” But as episodes of Bravo’s latest VPR spinoff The Valley have aired over the last couple of months, new details have emerged as to why Cartwright felt she needed to dissolve the marriage — from Taylor’s accusations around his estranged wife’s drinking habits to a dwindling sex life and near total lack of desire between the two. But on Sunday, the 35-year-old posted a comment to Instagram, suggesting something even more painful was at play.

Over the weekend, according to Us Weekly, Cartwright shared a video to her Instagram story captioned “Watching the Valley With Someone Who Is Shocked by Jax Taylor.” The woman in the clip seemed to be appalled at the way Taylor spoke to his wife — an understandable response from a viewer who hasn’t been inundated with Taylor-related monstrosities for over a decade. Beneath the video, Cartwright wrote, “Thank you, & just imagine what I’ve been through behind closed doors.”

Just one day prior, Taylor, who is 44, was photographed out and about with a 32-year-old model named Paige Woolen, at one stopping for a three-hour lunch at the Granville Café in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Cartwright has continued to record episodes of the podcast she and Taylor formerly co-hosted together. During Friday’s episode of When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, Cartwright told VPR castmate Tom Schwartz that she “can’t even be in the same room with [Jax] very long” for the time being, adding that her former husband of five years “hasn’t done a good job” of respecting her boundaries throughout the separation.

“We gotta remember I’m the one that’s living elsewhere,” she said. “I feel like I’m the one that’s taking all the hard hits even though I was the one who had to leave.”

With more episodes of The Valley to come, we’ll see if Cartwright has more to say about what exactly has been going on behind those closed doors. For now, we can at least breathe a sigh of relief for 3-year-old Cruz, who both Cartwright and Taylor are committed to peacefully co-parenting.
