For its next designer collaboration, H&M tapped Rokh to create a line of elevated staples, from Korean designer’s Rok Hwang’s signature deconstructed work to tailored pieces. The collection is mostly black and khaki, timeless pieces that can be worn multiple ways. Five Cut editors with different styles and body shapes tested the line out; here’s what we thought.

What did you try? The cutout off-the-shoulder bodysuit and the wool-blend belt-detail skirt.

How did it fit? Slightly big.

Would you buy it? Yes. I loved how a lot of this collection looked, but you definitely have to try the pieces on and consider the proportions. I was a little worried that the bodysuit would be too small, but it was stretchy and fit pretty well. The skirt was slightly too big but would be fine to wear. I also had to keep checking the site to make sure I was wearing everything properly, such as the bodysuit, which was supposed to be asymmetric. If I had time to thoroughly try everything on, I might invest in a dress or skirt, because I really loved the shapes.

What did you try? The belted wool jacket and the wool-blend asymmetric skirt.

How did it fit? The sizing was a bit inconsistent for me. While I love loose-fitting pieces, the blazer is extra oversize, so I’d recommend sizing down in any of the baggy jackets and coats. I got a large in the skirt; it closed at the top but barely grazed over my butt, so perhaps I could size up. I think the length of the back of it may just be too short for anyone who has a booty. There was also a corset and wide-leg pants set that I absolutely loved, but the large didn’t fit at all, and normally a large at H&M would be fine for me. Overall I’d say to size down in the oversize pieces and size up in the others.

Would you buy it? Yes, despite the fit being a bit off for me, I’d still buy this collection. Mostly because it’s a collection that really speaks to my style; I live in blazers and I seriously am obsessed with the belted-blazer silhouette from this collection. I also often wear deconstructed pieces, corsets, and belted jackets because they fit my body type really well. There are a few pieces that I absolutely want in my wardrobe because they’re timeless and the quality is great. H&M always does great with quality pieces that have a long lifespan for its designer collaborations.

What did you try? Two-piece twill trench coat.

How did it fit? I was quite surprised by how oversize this trench dress was — and I’m a person who swears by a roomier silhouette in my day-to-day life. No matter how much I cinched the coat, it still looked like I was wearing someone else’s outfit. However, the material is great; lightweight and soft, perfect for spring and early fall.

Would you buy it? I would try a size or two down before purchasing.

What did you try? Wool-blend studded skirt and studded wool blazer

How did it fit? I got a large in both, and the difference was quite shocking. The blazer was very oversize and cute, but I would either have to size down or get some alterations to achieve a proper oversize fit and not just a “too big” look. As for the skirt, it didn’t even zip up all the way, so I didn’t get to see its full potential.

Would you buy it? I don’t think so. I really wanted to love it, but I would have to size down in the blazer and size up in the skirt, and the blazer was very confusing to put on with the dual belts. I don’t think I ever got the hang of it. And for the price tag, I don’t see myself wearing it enough to justify. I did love the quality of the studs, though!

What did you try? Cropped twill jacket in size medium and twill skirt with belt in size small.

How did it fit? The jacket is structured, perfectly stiff, and slightly cropped. I prefer a more oversize look, but you can customize this piece to be more fitted (if that’s more your style) by adjusting the straps and buttoning it all the way up. I usually avoid cropped tops and jackets because they tend to draw attention to my broad shoulders and make me look boxy, but this one was surprisingly flattering. The skirt did not fit well at all, unfortunately. It was so small I could barely button it, even though I’m pretty much always a size 4/small in bottoms. Definitely size up if you plan to purchase, especially since you can cinch the waist with the adjustable strap if necessary.

Would you buy it? I would definitely buy the jacket; it fits well and would be easy to style with a black slip skirt or baggy jeans. I’m not sure about the skirt since it was so tight on me. It’s also a bit too high-waisted for my liking.
